KERRY LIDDELL
Manual Lymph Drainage has been around since 1938 when Dr Emil Vodder developed this unique form of massage to help his clients recover from persistent colds and infections.
Â
Despite the obvious benefits of integrating Manual Lymph Drainage (MLD) into regular massage treatments, over the years MLD has become more synonymous with treating chronic conditions like Lymphoedema, Lipoedema and Chronic Swelling.
However, if you incorporate treating the lymphatic system into your practice you are more than just adding a new service - you are transforming how you support your clients by enhancing your career as a bodywork professional. With specialised Manual Lymphatic Therapy training, you can provide unparalleled care, achieve better client outcomes, and stand out in an increasingly competitive field.

Are you ready to elevate your practice?
Â
REGISTER YOUR INTERESTThe training gave me a better overall understanding of and more confidence to treat holistically. The online platform was invaluable for laying the foundation before the hands-on training. Petra was always happy to provide info, feedback and additional knowledge, reinforced by her passion to raise the bar in this therapy. I would highly recommend it. It was worth every penny!

Benefits to YOU:
Â
Expand Your Service Offerings
By adding Manual Lymphatic Therapy to your repertoire, you can attract a broader client base, including those recovering from injury, dealing with swelling or seeking overall wellness and detoxification. This creates more opportunities for growth and income in your practice.
Increase Client Retention and Satisfaction
Offering a specialised service like Manual Lymphatic Therapy differentiates you from other therapists. Clients will see faster, more noticeable results, which increases their satisfaction and loyalty to your practice.
Enhance Your Professional Reputation
Specialising in advanced techniques like Manual Lymphatic Therapy positions you as providing a 'whole-istic' approach to treatment, enhancing your credibility and reputation.Â
Improve Treatment Outcomes
Manual Lymphatic Therapy can seamlessly integrate with other modalities like scar tissue massage, sports massage, or therapeutic bodywork, enhancing overall treatment outcomes. By addressing lymphatic flow, you can help clients recover faster and experience longer-lasting results.
Boost Your Earnings Potential
With specialised skills, you can charge premium rates for Manual Lymphatic Therapy sessions, and clients are often willing to pay more for specialised care. Manual Lymphatic Therapy treatments often require multiple sessions, providing a consistent revenue stream.
Diversify Your Career Opportunities
Manual Lymphatic Therapy opens doors to working with diverse client groups, from postoperative patients and athletes to those managing chronic health conditions. It can also lead to opportunities in clinics, spas, wellness centres, or even collaboration with medical professionals. It is also a stepping stone to working with postoperative aesthetic plastic surgery patients.
Â
Benefits to your Client:
Â
Reduced Swelling and Faster Healing
Manual Lymphatic Therapy helps reduce inflammation and swelling, making it especially beneficial for clients recovering from surgery, injury, or dealing with conditions like lymphedema. The gentle drainage of lymphatic fluid accelerates healing, making them feel better, and faster.
Enhanced Detoxification
By stimulating the lymphatic system, Manual Lymphatic Therapy supports the body’s natural detoxification processes. Clients will feel lighter, and more energized, and experience an overall sense of improved well-being.
Improved Immune Function
Regular Manual Lymphatic Therapy sessions can help boost the immune system by enhancing lymph flow and reducing stagnation. This can lead to fewer colds, illnesses, and overall better health.
Pain Relief and Relaxation
The gentle, rhythmic nature of Manual Lymphatic Therapy not only reduces physical pain and discomfort but also promotes deep relaxation. It’s an excellent choice for clients dealing with stress, anxiety, or chronic pain conditions.
Better Skin Health
Manual Lymphatic Therapy improves circulation, which can lead to healthier, glowing skin. It’s particularly effective for clients dealing with acne, puffiness, or post-cosmetic procedure recovery, as it supports the body’s natural healing processes.
Support for Chronic Conditions
Clients with chronic conditions like fibromyalgia, chronic fatigue syndrome, or autoimmune disorders can benefit from Manual Lymphatic Therapy, as it helps reduce inflammation, manage pain, and improve overall quality of life.

Â
Our industry is designed so that our integrity is in our own hands, this training is one that raises the bar for all of us. My previous lymphatic massage training covered some of this but I felt like we really blew by so much of it. This training went into depth, we really dug into the topics.Â
BRITTANYÂ KASEORU
When I qualified as a massage therapist in 2003, I knew I didn't want to be 'just' another massage therapist.
I knew there was more I wanted to give my clients, more than just a simple massage.Â
Having completed additional training in Myofascial Release, I could see the benefits this profound therapy had on women who were experiencing pain and discomfort following radical mastectomy.
Fortunately, I was working in a Sports Injury and Physiotherapy clinic in Northern Ireland, who like me, wanted me to progress to offer more to these ladies.
So, in 2006, I left my five-year-old daughter with my mum and travelled to Michigan, USA to train in treating problematic scars. As part of the training, I learned about the Lymphatic System to prepare the tissues for working with scars and flush the tissues afterwards. I completed training in Bruno Chikly's Lymph Drainage Therapy (LDT) parts 1 and 2. Then in 2008 I completed my Manual Lymph Drainage and Complete Decongestive Therapy training with Klose Training.
Since then I've had a successful career treating lymphedema, and lipoedema and helping people recover better after surgery.Â
In recent years, I've become aware of an increase in schools offering training in Lymphatic Massage, which lacks depth and substance.
So, in 2022, I developed the Aftercare Academy to provide cutting-edge, advanced training to help therapists gain confidence in providing a more holistic approach to treatment, primarily in helping people recover better and faster after surgery.
If you wish to progress into working with postop plastic and cosmetic surgery patients and attend our Advanced Postoperative Therapy training, completing the Manual Lymphatic Therapy training is a prerequisite.Â
It was what I was missing. The Postoperative Therapy training covers a very wide range of subjects, and I have learned a lot. Everything seems to fall in place for me, and all that I am doing makes sense. I am credible.

Massage therapy is so beneficial in itself but working with clients struggling with chronic health problems is a whole different ball game! After I finished the training, my clients could feel the confidence in my touch and feel the benefits of integrating MLT into their regular massage sessions.

I struggled with confidence before doing the training but since doing it, I've been inundated with patients. If you're hesitating about doing this training, don't. Just do it! It will transform you massage therapy practice.
SARAH HOGAN
Petra has clearly put every ounce of her being into this course. She was consistently professional, passionate, incredibly knowledgeable, humble and more than anything kind. She created a safe learning environment where it was ok to be vulnerable and ask the niggling questions. I feel equipped to practice safely and to step out and actually practice MLD.
